Such an amazing place that saved me considerable time, money, and effort with moving some large pieces of building material. U-Haul canceled my rental a couple days in advanced, then Budget canceled my rental by text message as I was sitting in the parking lot waiting to pick it up (and had already given my credit card for). So grateful that my roommate recommended this place, I got a flatbed truck set up for me in 30 minutes which saved the day - I was seriously thinking of strapping some things to the roof of my car that could have caused tremendous problems during transportation and almost certainly left some permanent damage on my vehicle’s roof. These guys really came through in the clutch for me, and I will always choose this business for any future rental truck needs.

Also, ended up paying less money and spending way less time on pick-up/drop-off than I would have to otherwise. No surprise fees and super clear invoicing/communication.

Never rented a car in so little time, I was in and out in less than about 5 minutes, and there was another guy in front before me when I came in. The guy I talked to was super nice and very efficient. Price was very good too (~25$ for the day for a compact), with no surprise fees after returning the car. Will come back no doubts!

Such great people! They are super laid back but also very helpful and informative. After talking to many other rental companies that were rude and unhelpful we finally found these guys; my girlfriend and I are both just barely under 25 which makes renting a car very difficult especially when you want to have more then one driver on the contract. Their under 25 fee is only 5 dollars per driver per day which is much less then every other company that we talked to. They gave us a 2014 Hyundai Accent with less then 50,000 miles that ran perfect the whole trip. They ended up charging us even less then we originally expected. I rarely write reviews but I would seriously recommend this company to everyone and will rent from them in the future whenever I have the chance.

Don't be fooled by the name. You will get a decent vehicle at a decent price here. We had a Nissan Verso that had a couple of minor dints and scrapes but was otherwise perfect and did the job for us over 5 days in San Francisco. Staff were very helpful and explained everything concisely without being pushy on the extras.

The easiest time I've ever had renting a car. I just called, made a reservation for a rental, walked in a few days later and picked up the car. Customer service was great. It was a great price even with the young driver fee. I would definitely rent from them again.

I was a bit nervous before I rented here, but just because I'd never heard of them before.

My experience: the best rental experience I've ever had in San Francisco. Period. I will 100% be renting from them every time I'm in SF.

The most difficult part of the entire process was...finding the building because it didn't show up properly in my Google Maps, but by looking at the street numbers, it was easy enough to find.
And once I got there...it was the most low-stress, easy going, straight-forward process I've ever had.

The car was great - there was a dent on one panel (and, honestly, that just made driving in San Francisco that much less stressful). And it was really clean.

The only charge you the amount for tolls, and you get the FasTrak price (no extra $15 "administrative fees", and no hoping that if you register your credit card on the FasTrak website
beforehand that you won't have to still hope your credit card gets charged rather than the rental car's FasTrak account and you STILL have to pay the $15 fee...I'm looking at you, Fox).
No uncomfortable upsells, and there really is a Shell station just down the street - with gas prices that are below the SF average.

I wasn't sure if I was going to need my car for an extra day or not, so I asked if it would be a problem and what I'd need to do, they just said - leave us a message on the machine if no one is there, and we'll just change your contract.
I did, and they did.

Seriously, the best car rental experience I've had.
What they say is what you get.
Keep it within 150 miles of the rental location, understand there might be a dent or some scratches on the car, you'll be charged a more-than-fair price for the tolls, and let them know if you have to make any changes to your rental contract.

Perfect!

A great place for inexpensive car rentals with no hassle and friendly service. Despite the name, the cars are actually in good shape, but may have small scratches, etc. I've been using Rent a Wreck for 14 years and always go back after trying another rental service.

My favorite rental place. Owners are very friendly. Best rates. Well worth the trek out there. Only wish you could leave your own vehicle there...but I understand what a logistical nightmare that would be to staff.
